This listing is for an unusual Chinese carved hard stone table screen with figures and scene on each side and dates from the late Qing Dynasty. The stone plaque is relief carved with elaborate details including eight figures (possibly the eight immortals of Taoism) with another figure appearing to be riding on a cloud in the sky above and a ram in front of the lower level of figures.The reverse side of the plaque is carved with two figures with decorative background. The plaque has a dark brown surface with a polished appearance. The stone plaque has a fitted carved wooden stand/base. Measures 15 high (plaque mounted in stand). The plaque measures 12 1/4" wide and 11" long.
The stand/base measures 8" high, 13 3/8" wide and 5 deep. Combined weight is 8.2 pounds.
This nice table screen is in very good Estate condition with only a few minor issues as described. There is a chip on the edge on the top right and an old repair on the top left (please view all photos).
The plaque does not fit tightly into the stand leaving a little looseness on the edges at the top of stand, however, it does fit securely. The wooden stand is in very good condition.
